Arsenal B

Three points is the smallest margin, and it has felt enormous all season. Arsenal sit top of the Premier League with 73 points from 34 games. Manchester City are second with 70 from 33. Arsenal win on Saturday, City lose on Monday when they host Everton, and the gap becomes six with four games remaining. That is a position where the title is yours to lose.

That is what is at stake against Fulham at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The title race position

Arsenal’s three-game run heading into Saturday has not been smooth. They lost 1-2 to Bournemouth on April 11, lost 1-2 at Manchester City on April 19, then steadied with a 1-0 win over Newcastle on April 25 before flying to Madrid for the UCL semi-final first leg last Wednesday.

That 1-1 draw at Atletico Madrid means the European run continues. But right now, the Premier League is the priority. Arsenal are top with three points to spare over City, who have a game in hand. A slip here does not end the title race, but it makes Monday’s Manchester City vs Everton game the decisive conversation.

Win on Saturday, and you control the narrative whatever City do on Monday.

Why this fixture favours Arsenal

Arsenal have not lost a home Premier League game to Fulham in their previous 32 attempts. That is the most games any team has ever gone unbeaten against a single opponent in home league fixtures in English football history.

Numbers from this season add context. Arsenal have conceded 11 goals in 17 home Premier League games,  under one per game. They have scored 17 goals from corners, more than any team in a single Premier League campaign. Set-piece dominance in a home game where they control the ball is a different kind of weapon to pure open-play threat.

Fulham’s situation

Fulham are 10th and tied on 48 points with Chelsea (8th) and Brentford (9th), separated by goal difference. With four games remaining, the difference between 7th (Conference League qualification) and 10th is marginal. Fulham need results, including something from this trip to Emirates.

Their last three PL results: 0-2 at Liverpool, 0-0 at Brentford, 1-0 vs Aston Villa. Ryan Sessegnon scored the winner against Villa , and then picked up an injury that rules him out of Saturday. Alex Iwobi (hamstring) and Kevin (foot) are also unavailable. Kenny Tete is a doubt.

Losing three players including your goal-scorer and a creative midfielder before travelling to the league leaders is not ideal preparation.

The key question

Arsenal are without Havertz (muscular doubt), Timber (groin, unlikely to be fit yet), and Merino (foot). These are meaningful absences. Arteta will still have Saka, Odegaard, Trossard, Rice, and Raya available, assuming no late fitness issues.

The question is not whether Arsenal are good enough to win this game. The question is whether they are sharp enough after the Atletico match to deliver the full intensity the title race demands.

Fulham are not coming to defend and take a point. They need results too. But Arsenal at home, on this record, with this much at stake, is a different kind of pressure from what Fulham have faced in recent weeks.

Lean: Arsenal win.

Arsenal’s home record against Fulham is unbroken across 32 games. They concede at barely a goal per game at the Emirates. Fulham are depleted. The title race adds urgency. Home advantage here is backed by history, statistics, and context.
