Man City v Real Madrid

Foden Stuns Arbers

As a follow up to the last post I did highlighting the Arbitrage opportunity with Vinicius Jr in the Manchester City v Real Madrid match. There was also another arbitrage opportunity which drew attention.

Phil Foden & Jude Bellingham were priced at 4.33 with Unibet to both have a Shot on Target. Firstly as value backers we need to make sure that the bet does offer value.

So once again we go over to Oddschecker and see what the bookmakers are offering for both these players to have a Shot on Target

Here we can see that Phil Foden was 13/20 or 1.65 in Decimal to have a Shot on Target and Jude Bellingham was Evens or 2.00 in decimal.

To get the odds of both of these players having a shot on target you simply multiply the 1.65 by 2.00 (1.65 x 2.00) which equals 3.33.

So as we can see the 4.33 offered by Unibet offers value.

Once again we go over to Betdaq and take a look at their enhanced specials and we can see that at the time the screenshot was taken (09:23 11th February) you could back the Foden Bellingham double shot on target at 4.00. So this offered value.

However there is a danger taking this type of Value / Arbitrage opportunity  and that is what happens if either of the 2 players don’t start.

On this occasion Phil Foden was left on the bench thus voiding the Unibet 4.33 double. Now this will have left many Arbers in a poor situation as they will have backed at Unibet at 4.33 and layed on Betdaq at around 4.00.

In this situation they have no bet on Unibet and a liability with Betdaq. However the liability only occurs if Foden and Bellingham register a Shot on Target.

Value Bettors left in a panic

Value bettors will also have been left in a panic as they will have placed far more money on Shot on target double than the £10 offered by Unibet. Jonny Grossmark of Trade on Sports backed the double at 4.00 and traded out at 4.30 once he could see that the price was moving against him.

As it happened Phil Foden did come on in the 30th minute (Replacing Jack Grealish) and did register a Shot on target and with Jude Bellingham scoring the winner for Real Madrid in the 95th minute this will have left many arbers with a 3/1 liability.

Many times services promote these types of opportunities as risk free. However if this was the first arbitrage opportunity you were presented with you are going to have a number of winning selections before recouping this 3/1 loss.
