Over the past few months, we have been evaluating our horse racing platform which we hope to introduce as a separate service later in the year and is currently part of the Platinum service.
We have a couple of criteria that members can participate in by either following through telegram or automating through BF Bot manager. The results of these criteria can be found HERE
However, following the criteria can be challenging and is aimed more at the experienced trader / bettor.
I know extraordinarily little about Horse Racing and asked our racing expert Jack Bickley what approach I should take when looking at learning to use the portal.
He said that initially you should set yourself some simple rules. Also, he stated that you should look to specialise by concentrating on certain types of races.
This makes complete sense as the average trader learning the ropes of the portal probably does not have time to sit at a computer all day. So really, they should look to specialise.
Trade on Horses should not be looked on as a tipping service. The portal primarily highlights where the money is going and by specialising in certain types of races you can maximise your chances of profitability.
RULES TO FOLLOW
So here are a few simple rules that portal users should be following.
1: Only look at Flat or All-Weather Races
2: Only look at races where there are between 6/12 runners. Anything above 13 and then finding a winner can become a bit of a lottery.
Once you have filtered these races then you can further reduce the number of potential races by ignoring the following
1: Ignore races where there is an odds-on Favourite.
2: Ignore races where there are 2 low odds and the rest are priced 10 or above.
3: If there are many horses being backed you will see a lot of green on the screen and these races should be ignored

As we can see from the race above 3 horses have taken money and although 2 horses have been classed as a Criteria 1.1 the reality is it is a little bit of a lottery if you are picking just 1 horse to back
RACE MEETINGS
Also, the type of racing you are betting on makes a stark difference. When you are looking at high profile meetings like Cheltenham, Ascot & Goodwood etc you are looking at high class racing where the best are racing against the best.
Here the prize money ranges from £50,000 to £1,000,000.
Also, the general horse racing enthusiast watches these races.
In these races with so many different horses attracting money the portal becomes a sea of green which makes it difficult to assess the race and gain an advantage.
Whereas in lower class racing the prize money can be as low as a few hundred pounds.
Here with the costs of training a horse running at around £30,000 owners and connections are looking to exploit the betting markets whereas the owners and connections of top-class horses do not tend to look at this aspect.
Also, events like a Wolverhampton evening race meeting tends to go under the radar with very few people watching and these are the type of races that by using the portal we are looking to exploit.
HOW LONG UNTIL I SEE RESULTS
I asked Jack how long it would take before I became proficient in using the portal. He once again emphasised that you should concentrate on one discipline e.g.: Flat racing. He then said if you spend time looking at the portal after a month you will start remembering patterns and after Three months it should start to become 2nd nature.
Personally, I have just dipped my toe in over the past couple of days and managed to find a few winners with odds ranging from 3/1 and 8/1 and have great confidence that by keeping to a set discipline combined with a well-capitalised bank and staking plan then profitability is almost inevitable.
Jack Bickley is due to do a seminar in Birmingham this September the cost of which will be around £150 per delegate (Limited to 20) If you would like to attend this seminar and for more information please email admin@tradeonsports.co.uk
